Here at VX Tuning, our goal has always been to provide headlights that feel, look, and perform better than OEM. This has been our motto since we first began offering complete headlight assemblies back in 2013. From the very beginning, we were strongly against cutting or modifying factory housings… and for years, we never did.

But there is one exception — and these headlights are it.

It took us years to finally be convinced to cut and modify halogen headlights and convert—“retrofit”—them with projectors. After endless questions, requests, and messages from our customers, we finally decided to offer a retrofit option. But before releasing anything, we invested the time to research, prototype, and engineer a solution that delivered the cleanest, most OEM+ look possible, while still being completely unique to VX Tuning.

Since launching them, the response has been incredible. These retrofit headlights have been a huge success, and we owe that to the years of research, the custom parts we developed, and the attention to detail that make our retrofits stand out from the typical retrofitted headlights offered elsewhere. We can confidently say we succeeded.

Ever since, these headlights have remained one of our most requested options and have received countless positive reviews and feedback—from customers, enthusiasts, forums, and even YouTube feature videos. Because of the amount of labor, precision, and customization required, we only build them in small batches, typically every other month. This production method ensures the highest quality, and it’s the way we plan to continue offering them moving forward.

Now, let’s talk about the headlights themselves.

Our VXT Retrofit Headlights begin with a brand-new set of VXT Ecode housings, which are then professionally retrofitted and modified with your choice of Bi-LED projectors.

NOTE:

These are not our Jetta VXT FXR Headlights. These headlights begin as halogen ECODE housings, which are then professionally modified and retrofitted with a Bi-LED projector and the finish of your choice. These are known as our “Retrofits.”

PROJECTOR

VXT 2.5” Bi-LED Projector (Integrated OSRAM LED Chip)

Our VXT Bi-LED projector delivers a hotspot comparable to the Morimoto Mini H1 8.0 paired with an XB 45K bulb and XB55 ballast.
Its Kuria optic clear lens and curved cutoff shield create a wide beam pattern with a sharp, colorful ECE-sloped cutoff.

Unlike early aftermarket LED projectors that use generic LEDs, our VXT unit features a specially developed OSRAM CSP chipset.
It shares performance and quality similar to the Morimoto M-LED but with two key advantages:

1. Built-in Drivers – No external drivers to mount, no holes drilled into rear covers.

2. Cost Efficiency – Comparable performance without the $400-per-projector price tag.

Bi-LED Technology Advantage

Bi-LED retrofits offer the cleanest and most modern lighting solution available. Unlike HID systems, you can forget about separate bulbs, external ballasts, or extra wiring such as relay harnesses. A Bi-LED projector is a fully integrated unit designed for simplicity and reliability:

• Built-in driver that regulates power

• Integrated low and high beam control

• Osram LED chipset providing crisp, powerful illumination

While HID has traditionally been the benchmark for maximum output, today’s Bi-LED projectors come incredibly close in performance. Their efficiency, durability, and plug-and-play design have made them the preferred choice for OEM-plus retrofits.

LEVELING MOTORS – Standard/Included

Most German vehicles feature in-cabin headlight height adjustment.
To make this plug-and-play, we pre-wire each headlight and install the electric leveling motors internally.

Not Included / Required for In-Cabin Adjustment:

• OEM Switch Controller (Part #1J0941333A)

• 10-to-10 Pin Power Harness

• Rheostat Switch Harness

Once installed, these components allow full electronic adjustment from inside your MK4 using the OEM switch.

Manual Adjustment:
All headlights arrive pre-adjusted, but can be fine-tuned externally with a Phillips or Torx screwdriver using the built-in adjusters.

Lens Etching

Want your retrofits to stand out even more?
Our lens etching adds a unique, personalized touch that transforms heads at shows—without affecting performance.

Etching is applied to the backside of the projector lens, ensuring:

• No discoloration

• No fading

• No light output reduction

• Permanent OEM-quality finish

Built to Order

Our retrofit headlights are individually crafted based on your selected finish, projector type, and custom add-ons. Every set goes through a detailed multi-step process — retrofitting, wiring, sealing, adjustment, and final testing. To maintain our OEM+ standards, production is limited and completed in small batches.
